This would be “ME”, a promise to myself 3-5 years from now, this is my journey of finding my way back home. I want to share a personal story that is close to my heart—a story about fulfilling dreams, sacrifice, and the unbreakable bond of family.

 

My name is Irma Lazanas, and for the past 19 years, I have been living abroad, far away from the beautiful country I call home—the Philippines. As a nurse, I have dedicated my life to caring for others, providing them with the attention and love they need to thrive, even when I’m miles away from my own family. But here’s the truth: while I may have been physically absent from my loved ones, they have never left my heart. The dream of reuniting with my mother and siblings, of coming home to retire free from financial worries, has always been my biggest “why” to keep going.

 

It hasn’t been easy, but my deep love for my family has fueled my determination to make a difference in their lives and in the lives of other Filipino healthcare professionals like me. I am sure that many Filipino professionals abroad share the same dream as I do. But for many of us working abroad, being physically present for our families is a luxury we simply cannot afford. We sacrifice our own desires, setting aside our dreams of coming back home, in order to provide a better life for our loved ones. We strive to create a brighter future, but deep down, we yearn to hold our families close, to create lasting memories with them.

 

Unfortunately, life happens. In 2019, tragedy struck my family when my father passed away. The loss of my beloved father shattered my heart into a million pieces. It was in that moment of vulnerability that I made a promise to myself and to my mother—one that I would stop at nothing to be there for her, to provide the care and support she deserved. It became clear to me that life is short, and the time we have with our loved ones is precious beyond measure. And my quest for financial freedom began—I need to find a way to retire early, return to the Philippines, and build a life where my family and I could be reunited without financial worries weighing us down.

 

That’s the reason why I started my digital business and as I pursue my dreams I have been able to empower fellow Filipino healthcare professionals, sharing with them the tools, knowledge, and support they need to create their own path to success. It fills my heart with joy and fulfillment knowing that I can make a difference in their lives.

 

To all my fellow Filipinos working abroad, I would love you to join me on this heartfelt journey of finding OUR way back home. Let us rediscover the meaning of home.
